49/63 Neighborhood Coalition

The 49/63 Neighborhood Coalition is a community of 220 blocks and approximately 8000 people. The neighborhood boundaries are from 49th - 63rd St., Oak to Paseo.

For some years this "buffer" neighborhood has been plagued with middle class flight due to perception of fear and crime rate. Over 1/4 of this neighborhood has been highly distressed because of open drug sales, abandoned housing, a level of assaults that are higher than Kansas City norms, and random crimes and disorder. This neighborhood has been a prime candidate for residents and police to work together.

We have continued partnerships with various city and state agencies and police department units to aid us in our problem solving process. We continue to partner with the 49/63 Neighborhood Coalition to develop resources and support. Our combined collaborative efforts have allowed us to work our projects effectively and improve the quality of life.
