 Filing/Obtaining Reports

Phone-In/Walk-In Reports

For your convenience, many types of police reports may be filed at Central Patrol Division Station, or by contacting the station by phone at 816-234-5510.  Among the types of reports that may be "walked in" are;

  • Non-Injury Accidents
  • Stolen Autos
  • Stealing (Only if there is no evidence to be collected at the scene)
  • Purse Snatching
  • Assault (For Domestic Violence Assault, an officer will be dispatched to the station to take your report)
  • Identity Theft
  • Harassment
  • Property Damage
  • Recovered Property

Depending on the circumstances of the crime, you may be able to phone in your report without responding to the Station.  The general rule is, if you have a suspect description, or information on the possible suspect, then the report will have to be taken in person at the station.  If there is no suspect description, the report may be phoned in.

Obtaining Copies of Police Reports

Copies of Police Reports are available 10 business days after the report has been taken.  To obtain a copy of the report, you must respond to the station in person, and have your "Case Report Number".  There is a fee for obtaining copies of reports as follows: click here

Reports made anywhere within the City of Kansas City may be obtained from Central Patrol Division Station.
