We are dedicated to the investigation of sex crimes
against children. We are part of a
multi-disciplinary team involving outside child advocacy resources who all have
the common goal of child protection The Juvenile Section is assigned to the Special
Victim’s Unit in the Violent Crimes Division. The Juvenile Section is
located at 1525 Holmes and can be reached at (816)234-5150.

- The Juvenile Section is comprised of 10
detectives, 2 Sergeants and 2 civilians. They are divided into 2 squads,
the 930 Squad and the 940 Squad.
- The Juvenile Section operates 24 hours a
day. The 940 squad works the day shift from 7:00am to 3:00pm. The 930 Squad works
the evening shift from 3:00pm to 11:00pm. There are two detectives that work the
overnight shift).
There is one civilian assigned to the Day shift and one assigned to the PM
shift.
- The Juvenile Section is responsible for
investigating sex crimes against children as well as child custody
matters only. The below list comprises all crimes the
Juvenile Section is responsible for where the victim is a juvenile. The age of the suspect does not
matter.
- Rape
- Sodomy
- Sexual abuse
- Sexual Assault
- Deviate Sexual Assault
- Child Molestation
- Incest
- Sexual Misconduct
- Abuse of a Child
- Child Enticement
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child
- Child Abandonment
- Parental Kidnapping
- Interference with Child Custody
The Juvenile Section DOES NOT handle any other criminal
investigations. You must contact the
specific investigative element in regard to crimes that are not listed
above.

The Juvenile Section handles runaway juvenile records and the database for all
juvenile offenders.
