POLICE
OFFICER To
become a police officer, you must complete academy training. As a recruit, you
receive full salary during your entire six-month academy training. There is then
a six month probationary period.
The
first eight weeks of probation are spent with a Field Training Officer. A police
officers' duties require law enforcement work and crime prevention, consisting
of assigned patrol, preliminary investigations and traffic control in a
designated area or a assigned shift. Primary responsibility is to respond to
public safety calls for service. Patrol may be performed in patrol cars, on
motorcycles, on bike, or on foot. This line of work may involve an element of
personal danger and may require action to be taken without direct supervision

is required. A new officer is subject to assignment at one of the five patrol
